Projects

Up one level
This tab is the temporary home of documents related to the Enterprise Help Desk Project, also known as "Coho". The project was initiated during a breakout session with a small community of interest on last October at GOSCON 2005 in Portland, Oregon. The community is forming and the project is in the initiation phase, with a formal project plan under development as of Feb 3, 2006. A formal project web site for this "Community Source" project is under development now. The prelimary documents provided here serve as basic overviews for the project. If your organization is interested in joining the project, please contact Deborah Bryant, OSU Open Source Lab, at 503.737.6614 or email her at deborah.bryant@oregonstate.edu .

Projects What's in a Name?
Where did the Help Desk Project get its name? We're often asked what "COHO" stands for. It's actually not an acronym; it's a beautiful species of salmon known elsewhere as Silver Salmon, but called Coho in the Pacific Northwest.

"Our participation with the emerging open source community is proving to be time well spent. From the costs we have avoided, to the exciting new projects we are involved in, it is proving personally to be one of the most exciting times I have had in a long career of public service. I look forward to seeing many current and former public sector colleagues at GOSCON."
